Try a different footnote content syntax to work around rendering issue

The issue is that the end of the footnote content is rendered in the
main document.  It affects at least this file and _docs/timestamps.md.

The syntax used here is taken from
<https://kramdown.gettalong.org/syntax.html#footnotes>.
