* Vagrant Cascadian <vagrant at reproducible-builds.org> [2026-10-26 15:09]:

Right, this is even racy:

$ mmdebstrap --variant=apt sid --include=apache2 --chrooted-customize-hook='apt install -y --no-install-recommends libapache2-mod-php; ls /run/apache2/' /dev/null
[exit 0]
$ mmdebstrap --variant=apt sid --include=libapache2-mod-php --chrooted-customize-hook='apt install -y --no-install-recommends apache2; ls /run/apache2/' /dev/null
ls: cannot access '/run/apache2/': No such file or directory

This should probably be a bug in apache2.

I wanted to point at my statement there:

| I also consider adding the rm to the sbuild default setup so it would
| fail on the Debian buildds as well.

To give some more insights: debrebuild uses mmdebstrap to create the
chroot which cleans up /run by default, as it is assumed to be a tmpfs.
So to make sbuild and debrebuild consistent we could either cleanup /run
in sbuild or call mmdebstrap with --skip=cleanup/run. Would be happy to
hear opinions and how other distributions handle this.

Cheers Jochen
