Hi,

Today I attended the talk "Reproducible Builds - aiming for bullseye" at
DebConf19 and I want to share some comments since some things I consider
we are missing to have more contributors. I think it is very important
to share every year the current status of the Reproducible Builds
Project inside Debian, but besides giving new information about what
have been done, we should do another kind of presentations more focused
to technical introductions to everyone, since at every DebConf we have
people that being new, Debian Maintainers or Developers, they ask
questions that could not be answered with the necessary depth of details
and the complexity of what is taking place in RB is really huge, even
for people that are working with Debian packages in some way. I have
seen that workshops of this DebCamp and DebConf like "Empacotamento de
software no Debian" (Debian software packaging) by Joao Eriberto Mota
Filho (Basilian DD) and "Introdução de Git e GitLab" (Git and GitLab
introduction) by Allythy Rennan (Basilian DD) were very useful to
beginners to get motivation, understand since zero what about they are
and have useful knowledge to start helping to the Debian Project.

Regarding to this, I purpose we prepare training sessions about
Reproducible Builds for every MiniDebConf or DebConf in a way that could
be easy for anyone to understand and get involved, like to do a
demonstration how to put in practice the "Reproducible Builds How to"
https://wiki.debian.org/ReproducibleBuilds/Howto showing all the
necessary steps, how to identify the problems, possible solutions and
patching. I would propose myself to do these trainings, but I still find
it very difficult and my technical knowledge is not enough. It would be
good if Holger, lamby, Vagrant or any other member of the team with the
experience and confidence they already have, could do this kind of
sessions. They would really help us a lot and make the Reproducible Team
inside Debian look less hermetic and more friendly to people who have
not idea about Reproducible Builds. Please answer me what do you think
about it,

Best regards
Jathan
