Webconverger is:

It "cheats" (although I use the word without any negative connotation)
by using a fixed installation chroot from Git.
This means that whilst it is based on Debian (which is not reproducible
yet) it cleverly bypasses all the issues associated with debootstrap
and/or the postinst scripts resulting in an unreproducible image.
In case that was at all negative, getting Webconverger reproducible
was the motivation for me contributing many patches to ensure live-
build, xorriso and friends generate reproducible .ISO images. :)
