Good news! Using the squashfs-tools branch mentioned below, the Tails
ISO builds and boots fine, and it generates our SquashFS in
a reproducible manner :)

But I notice that you've applied early versions of 2 of the Tails
patches, while improved versions had been submitted. I've submitted
a pull request about it:
