LEDE/OpenWrt is (usually) linking the initramfs into the kernel. The
bootloader will only load one combined image.

debian have the initramfs seperate.
The bootloader loads kernel and initramfs seperate. When the bootloader
execute the kernel it also tells the kernel where the initramfs is.

LEDE/OpenWrt will only build initramfs when building everything.

I would guess the initramfs is in the middle.
